Greg Stein Endowment Fund
Greg Stein embodied the mission and purposes of Phi Kappa Theta. Of the purposes – Fraternal, Societal, Intellectual, Spiritual, and Leadership – Greg had a particular passion for the Intellectual pillar. He believed that the pursuit of education meant a love of learning, that the acquisition of skills would help one succeed, and that the search for truth, knowledge and freedom were fundamental to becoming servant leaders.
Like all brothers, Greg considered the Fraternity a laboratory of human experiences, an institution that strives to complement its members' formal education with opportunities that instill a love of learning and encourage achievement of high scholastic standards.
In honor of Greg’s contributions to the national Fraternity and to the Iowa Xi chapter, the Iowa Xi Foundation established a permanent endowment in his name. The purpose will be to award grants annually to collegiate brothers for things that were important to Greg:
Providing tutoring assistance – lending an academic hand to help brothers succeed.
Offering needs-based scholarships – lending a financial hand to help brothers succeed.
Recognizing graduating seniors – celebrate brothers’ educational success as well as their transition from collegiate brother to alumnus brother.
The goal is to raise $60,000 by December 31, 2022.
By achieving the fundraising goal, the Greg Stein Endowment Fund will generate $2,000 – 3,000 each year in grants for recognizing graduating seniors, providing tutoring assistance, and offering needs-based scholarships. As the fund grows, so will the amount of grants each year.
As a permanent endowment, members and friends of Phi Kappa Theta will always be able to include the Greg Stein Endowment Fund in their annual charitable gifts.
